- 1976
Born in Anderson, South Carolina.
- 1995
Graudates high school after writing Crossroads, his first play.
- 2000
Earns his Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from Howard University and then attends the British American Drama Academy's Oxford Mid-Summer program in London.
- 2002
Graduates from the New York Digital Film Academy and works in Harlem, New York as a Drama Instructor for the Junior Scholars Program at Schomburg Center for Research in Black Culture.
- 2003
Takes his first television role in an episode of Third Watch, a crime drama of NBC. He continues to make appearances in shows such as Law & Order, CSI:NY and Lincoln Heights.
- 2008
Moves to Los Angeles and appears in The Express: The Ernie Davis Story, his first feature film.
- 2013
Gets his first starring role in the film 42 as Jackie Robinson. In the following year, he plays in the filmGet On Up as a musician named James Brown.
- 2016
Plays in the movie Gods of Egypt as "Thoth", a Eyptian deity, and begins his role in Captain America: Civil War as T'Challa. He later stars and co-produces the film Marshall as Thurgood Marshall, a civil rights icon. During this year, Boseman is diagnosed with stage III colon cancer but continues to work in films while recieveing treatement. He also visits chidren who are terminally ill and battling cancer.
- 2017
Becomes the first African American superhero to be in a major feature film after starring in Black Panther. As well as winning several MTV Movie Awards, and awarding one to James Shaw Jr, a citizen named hero who disarmed a man that killed three people in Nashville, Tennessee.
- 2019
Announces his engagement with Taylor Simone Ledward, a singer, who he has been dating since 2015. They marry in secret the next year.
- 2020
Dies at the age of 43 in his home after battling colon cancer for 4 years.
